My take on Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess. She is holding Yata no Kagami, a mirror that is one of the three sacred treasures of Japan and is associated with the Sun Goddess.
This is for a mascot contest, so I did work a bit within certain constraints.
I tried to push the color scheme a bit by going a little more complex than I'm usually comfortable with. I'd appreciate any critiques, however!

Wonderful job choosing textures and colours for the kimono and lacing that texture into the background. Great themes and motifs throughout the whole piece. I'm really impressed with where your art is going!

I have to ask, how long did it take you to do the underskirt part? That looks quite complicated to me XD, but I do love the piece. I don't know enough about colour schemes to really give a good critique in that.

Nah, I used a pattern for that. I wouldn't have the patience to paint all that straight into the piece. >>
